Charleston County Leash LawsIsle of Palms:
Dogs are welcome on the beach year-round. Dogs must be on a leash at all times except 5 a.m.-8 a.m., and owners are expected to have voice command over their dogs and have a leash in hand during these hours. If cited, fees range from $100-$500, depending upon the frequency of the violation by the dog and owner.
The town's new dog ordinance will be enforced through October 1st 2005. It was passed by council members last year to help keep the beach clean. Dogs are prohibited on the beach from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, dogs are allowed on the beach with a leash from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. And from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m., dogs may be on the beach without a leash provided the owner is nearby.
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, dogs cannot be on Folly beach, period. During the other times dogs must be on a leash. This is a year-round leash law in effect on this beach, and carries a $500 fine if cited. The same goes for not cleaning up after your dog.
